We represent people through contingency fee agreements. They provide that we will be paid only if and when the case is settled or a judgement is paid. Generally, we pay all expenses and get reimbursed only once a settlement is obtained or a judgement is paid.
The percentage charged depends on the size and nature of the case. In cases involving catastrophic or very serious injuries a lower percentage might be justified. For example, we entered into a modified percentage fee agreement when we represented an infant with serious spinal cord injuries and brain damage in an ICBC claim. In approving the infant’s structured settlement the British Columbia Supreme Court Judge described our fee as “eminently reasonable”.
